Hey there, I'm Lionel, the creator of Tasters.
After my studies, I built countless websites and apps — at a web agency, at a big company that sells coffee capsules, and for a real estate platform. After nearly 20 years of innovating for others, the idea of starting my own thing had been buzzing in my head for a while.
Every year, my best mates and I go on an epicurean road trip. In 2020, COVID killed our weekend plans. So on the spot, I suggested we throw together a blind tasting with whatever we had lying around.
The experience was a hit. We drank well (too well) and most importantly, we laughed a lot.
What if this was actually a business idea? A quick search — nothing like it existed. I started building the app. It would be called Tasters.
The app was great, but for a blind tasting, you need wines! I started looking for partners. Not even 5 minutes after sending him my email, I got a call from Julien Vogel. We had to meet.
While setting up the distribution partnership with his company Vogel Vins, Julien joined me on the project and took a 20% stake.
Though let's be real — the one actually running the show is Brik 🐶
