When Terlato and Chapoutier decided to join forces, they picked Victoria's best shiraz blocks to prove a point. This L-Block bottling is exactly that proof, and it's the kind of red you pour when you want to impress without saying much.

In the glass, it's a deep ruby with violet edges, the kind of color that hints at what's coming. On the nose, black fruits, violet and a touch of spice pull you in, and the palate follows through with black fruit and cracked pepper, wrapped in tannins so velvety you barely notice them working. The finish lingers on spice, long and satisfying.

Pour this alongside a grilled steak, wild boar or venison, and give it an hour in the decanter before serving it at room temperature, around 16 to 18 degrees.
