This Haut-Médoc from Château Chasse-Spleen's second label offers a beautiful introduction to Left Bank Bordeaux without breaking the bank. The 2021 vintage brings together the classic Médoc blend with elegance and approachability, making it perfect for discovering what makes this region so special.
On the nose, you'll find aromas of ripe blackcurrant and plum, with hints of cedar and subtle spice. The palate is smooth and well-balanced, with silky tannins that frame the dark fruit beautifully. There's a lovely freshness throughout, with a medium body that makes it incredibly easy to drink. The finish is clean and persistent, leaving you with notes of dark berries and a touch of graphite.
This wine pairs wonderfully with grilled beef, roasted lamb, or a hearty mushroom risotto. It's also a great match for aged cheeses like Comté or Gruyère. Serve at around 16-18°C to let all the flavors shine through, and don't hesitate to open it an hour before serving to let it breathe a bit.
