About this wine
M. Chapoutier's Hermitage Monier de la Sizeranne is one of those legendary Northern Rhône reds that shows exactly why Syrah from this granite hillside is considered among the world's finest. This 2019 vintage captures the power and elegance that have made this wine a benchmark for Hermitage since 1996.
On the nose, you'll find intense aromas of dark berries, violets, and black pepper, with hints of smoked meat and graphite. The palate is rich and structured, with concentrated flavors of blackcurrant, dark plum, and licorice, supported by firm yet silky tannins. The finish is long and complex, with notes of espresso and dark chocolate lingering beautifully.
This wine deserves respect at the table. Decant it for at least an hour before serving at 16-18°C to let it breathe and reveal its full character. Perfect pairings include roasted lamb with herbs, grilled beef ribeye, or a rich game stew like civet de chevreuil. The wine's structure and depth also make it an excellent match for aged hard cheeses.
