Pour this one the night you want to tell a story, not just show a label. Château Marsyas comes from Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, where Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot and Petit Verdot ripen under a sun that gives this 2017 its deep purple colour and its 15 percent of warmth.

On the nose, dark berries meet cocoa and a touch of sweet spice. The attack is fresh and precise, the texture envelops the palate with a sense of sweetness, and the tannins are tight and chalky, carrying the wine on and on. The finish circles back to red fruit and pink peppercorn.

Open it with a ribeye steak or venison medallions, and if friends who love wild boar join you, this bottle will keep up. Decant it for an hour before pouring, and serve at 16 to 18 degrees.
