About this wine
When you want a white burgundy that punches above its village name without the premier cru price tag of Meursault, Rully is where smart drinkers look. Paul et Marie Jacqueson have been coaxing chardonnay out of these Chalonnaise slopes for generations, and this 2023 shows exactly why.
In the glass, it opens on white peach and pear, with a chalky, mineral edge that keeps everything taut. The palate stays lively, almost saline on the finish, never heavy despite its 13% alcohol.
Pour it with scallops seared hard and fast, or let it sit alongside a mushroom risotto where the minerality cuts through the earthiness; a wedge of comté works just as well. Serve it chilled, around 11-12°C, straight from the fridge.
