Savagnin is the jewel of France's Jura region, a small mountainous area near the Swiss border that has preserved winemaking traditions dating back centuries. This ancient white grape variety is believed to have originated in the Alpine regions and is genetically related to Gewürztraminer, though it produces wines with a completely different character.

What makes Savagnin truly special is its starring role in Vin Jaune, one of the world's most unusual and long-lived wines. These wines are aged under a film of yeast (called 'voile') for at least six years, developing extraordinary nutty, oxidative flavors. Beyond Vin Jaune, Savagnin also produces excellent fresh, unoaked whites and is often blended with Chardonnay in traditional Jura blends, adding structure and distinctive character.
