About this wine
This 2014 Châteauneuf-du-Pape from Alain Jaume's old vines is the kind of wine that makes you understand why the southern Rhône has been celebrated for centuries. The Domaine Grand Veneur has crafted something truly special here, a red that brings together the best of Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Syrah in perfect harmony.
On the nose, you'll find rich aromas of dark cherries, blackberries, and a hint of garrigue—those wild herbs that grow in the Mediterranean scrubland. The palate is full-bodied and velvety, with layers of ripe red fruits, sweet spices like cinnamon and clove, and a touch of liquorice. The tannins are smooth and well-integrated, while the finish lingers beautifully with notes of dark chocolate and a whisper of pepper.
This wine is perfect alongside roasted lamb with herbs de Provence, a hearty beef daube, or even a selection of aged cheeses like Comté or Gruyère. Decant it for at least an hour before serving to let it breathe and reveal all its complexity. Serve at 16-18°C to enjoy it at its best.
