About this wine
Yann Chave's Hermitage rouge is a wine that deserves a place in your cellar. This 2016 vintage from Crozes-Hermitage shows exactly why Syrah from the northern Rhône is so special.
You'll find dark berries and black pepper on the nose, with hints of herbs that remind you of the steep hillsides where these grapes grow. On the palate, it's elegant and structured, with fine tannins that give the wine a natural grip without feeling heavy. There's a lovely freshness here that makes it easy to drink now, but it'll also develop beautifully over the next five to ten years in your cellar.
Pair this with hearty dishes that respect the wine's character. Think roasted duck, beef stew, or aged cheeses like Comté. It's also perfect with mushroom-based dishes or game. Serve it at around 16 to 17 degrees Celsius, and consider opening it thirty minutes before you pour to let it breathe a little.
