About this wine
Petite Arvine is the grape that Valais growers guard like a secret, and this one from Cave La Rodeline shows exactly why. Claudine and Yvon Roduit-Desfayes have a knack for coaxing real tension out of this variety, and the 2025 vintage is already showing plenty of character even young.
The colour is a pale yellow-green, and the nose opens on exotic fruit, rhubarb, wisteria blossom and citrus zest. In the mouth it's concentrated and lively, with a round, saline finish that gives it real grip. There's power here, and a certain nerve, but the acidity and alcohol stay in balance.
Give it a year or two in the bottle and the grape's true character comes through, so if you can wait, do. This is a wine for the table: pour it with scallops or grilled salmon, and it would do just as well alongside caviar. Serve it chilled, around 10 to 12 degrees.
