About this wine
This is a wine that shows what Chianti Classico can really do when a producer takes their time. The 2016 vintage from Gagliole is proof that great wines don't need to shout to get your attention.
On the nose, you'll find bright red cherry and plum with a hint of dried herbs and earth. The palate is elegant and balanced, with fine tannins that feel smooth rather than aggressive. There's a lovely freshness here, with good acidity that keeps everything lively and interesting from the first sip to the finish.
This is a wine that works beautifully with Tuscan classics like ribollita or a simple pasta with tomato sauce. It's also perfect with roasted chicken or medium-aged cheeses. Serve it slightly cool, around 16 to 18 degrees, and it will show you why Sangiovese remains one of Italy's greatest grapes. This is the kind of wine you can enjoy now, but it will also age nicely for another five to seven years if you want to keep a bottle.
