About this wine
This Cornalin from Cave La Rodeline is a brilliant introduction to one of Valais's most exciting indigenous red grapes, crafted by the Roduit-Défayes family in the legendary Combe d'Enfer vineyard. It's a wine that captures the wild, mountainous character of the Swiss Alps in every sip.
On the nose, you'll find vibrant red fruits like wild strawberries and cranberries, layered with hints of alpine herbs and a subtle peppery note. The palate is fresh and lively, with fine-grained tannins that give structure without weighing things down. There's a lovely mineral edge that reflects the steep, rocky terroir where these vines grow, and the finish lingers with bright acidity and a touch of spice.
Serve this at around 16°C to let all those delicate aromas shine through. It's perfect alongside traditional Swiss dishes like raclette or a hearty fondue, but it also pairs beautifully with grilled lamb chops, duck breast, or even a mushroom risotto. The wine's freshness and moderate alcohol make it incredibly food-friendly and easy to enjoy.
