About this wine
When you want a white that has some grip to it, not just a light sipper, this Pinot Gris from Domaine de la Treille is a lovely place to start. The Dutruy brothers keep things honest here, working with Pinot Gris from La Côte and letting it show its richer side.
On the nose, you'll find quince and almond paste, a texture that feels almost creamy even though this wine skipped malolactic fermentation entirely. The acidity comes through with a peppery edge, stretching the finish out longer than you'd expect from a wine this fresh.
Pour it alongside a sole or a trout, something with enough character to match the wine's own personality, or bring out a wedge of Gruyère if you want to keep things simple. Serve it chilled, around 10 to 12 degrees, so the fruit stays bright and the texture doesn't turn heavy.
